Deconstructing the Charm and Charm-Strange Mesons

Over the last year a number of new Charm-Strange mesons have been observed bye Babar, CLEO, Belle, and SELEX with properties much different from what was predicted by quark potential models. This has led to considerable speculation as to what these states might be. The observation of the non-strange P-wave states by the Belle collaboration has not attracted nearly the same interest but also represents an important development. In my talk I will go over tests based on the predictions of the quark model that can be used to understand these new states .
