The medium modification of the single and double fragmentation function

We study the properties of single and double particle distributions in vacuum, and their modifications in nuclear and deconfined matter. Motivated by the definition and factorization of the single particle fragmentation functions, we propose the formulation of a dihadron fragmentation function in terms of parton matrix elements. We also derive the DGLAP evolution equation of this function at leading log. Modifications to the fragmentation functions from higher twist corrections in DIS off nuclei and from multiple scattering in a deconfined environment are computed. Results are presented for cases of physical interest.
