SEARCH FOR hc(1P1) STATE OF CHARMONIUM AT CLEO

Using the 6 pb-1 of e+e- annihilation data taken at psi-prime(3686) at CLEO III and CLEO-c, we have searched for the elusive hc(1P1) state of charmonium in the reaction psi-prime(3686) -> pi0 hc. It is theoretically estimated that the product branching ratio B(psi-prime ->pi0 hc) X B(hc -> gamma eta_c) is approximately 10^{-3} - 10^{-4}. With 3 million psi-prime produced, it is expected that several hundred 1P1 events can be observed. Preliminary results will be presented.
