The NStar 2002 workshop on the physics of excited nucleons will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 9-12, 2002. A meeting of the Baryon Resonance Analysis Group (BRAG) will take place Oct. 8. More information on the BRAG premeeting may be obtained here.

Funding from NSF is available to support travel and local expenses of young physicists. Contact the organizers for more information.

Topics include

  • meson production via electromagnetic and hadronic reactions
  • baryon resonance structure in quark models
  • baryon resonances in lattice QCD
  • chiral models
  • field theoretic models
  • resonance parameters from coupled channel fits
  • partial wave analysis and resonance parameters
  • strangeness production
  • helicity dependence of resonances and spin structure

The conference fee includes an excursion, two lunches, two mixers, and the conference banquet. A welcoming reception will be held Tuesday, Oct 8, 17:30-19:30 in the University Club. Registration will take place from 17:00 - 19:00.

More information on invited speakers and the program may be obtained here. A very useful map of the area (with buildings labelled) is in jpeg (be sure to print landscape) or postscript format. A general map of the area can be found at Oakland map
