Nov, 2002 Call for letters of intent for the new
50 GeV proton synchrotron being constructed in Japan. The

July, 2002 The Quarkonium Working Group, dedicated to
the explication of heavy quark physics, is founded.
July, 2002 The German Wissenschaftsrat endorses the proposed
GSI upgrade.
May, 2002 Declaration of Ferrara issued
at the European Workshop on the QCD Structure of the Nucleon in support of a European facility for the investigation of hadron structure with electromagnetic probes.

Nov 28 We are organizing! We need volunteers and nominations for Secretary-Treasurer,
executive council Member-at-Large, and for members for the GHP Fellowship Committee, GHP Program
Committee, and GHP Nominations Committee. The Fellowship Committee nominates
GHP members for APS Fellowships. The Nominating Committee is charged with identifying candidates for
vice Chair, Secretary-Treasurer, and Member-at-Large. The first election will be held in 2002.
The Program Committee organizes meetings and
sessions relevant to the GHP. The first such event is a session on hadronic physics at the APS April
meeting in Albuquerque, NM.
Nov 28 It is important that as many people as possible join the
APS and the Topical Group. Further information may be found here. The
cost is a mere $6 for APS members.
If you are not an APS member, please consider becoming one. There is currently a special half price APS membership offer for new Regular members and dues are only $50 (in addition to $6 for the Topical Group).
